I love being near the water and waking up early to take a walk in the sand with a quick dip into the cool ocean waters. Fun fact, I’ve been swimming since before I turned one, and I’ve always loved it. Shoutout to my parents for having me in swimming lessons really early. It’s been amazing to be on South Beach because I’ve finally gotten access to walk into the water. One of the best things about a quick getaway to South Beach, Miami is a day at the beach. Especially now when it’s warm, sunny, and also quieter than normal. You can have a good time at a safe distance. Backcountry has an incredible offering of products for so many outdoor activities including a fun beach day. They had a great selection of all my favorite brands, plus so many for me to discover. Backcountry makes the outdoors fun and approachable.
Although there is a pandemic going on and distance is important, you can safely enjoy the beach with way less people than normal. I was able to easily stay 6 feet away from other people and felt super safe in my own area with a few trips into the beautiful, refreshing water. The current state of the world doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy summer, just that we’ve got to do it a bit different than we used to! It felt amazing to connect with nature and hear the water flowing onto the sore.
Current Beach Tips:
Bring your mask and keep it handy. This is a tip for anywhere right now because safety is key. Masks were required to check into the beach and I kept mine along with some snacks in my backpack. Both easily accessible when needed.
Plan to take your Temporary Boating License Exam before you head to the beach (if you’ll be on South Beach). It’s so much easier to study and pass on a computer. At the beginning of the year, regulations changed and now you’ll need to have this completed to rent jet-skis which are the perfect distanced workout. Nothing like speeding through the water!
Pack Snacks! Always my advice for life but water on the beach costs $5 and it’s way more fun to have snacks you like. Watermelon is probably my favorite beach snack ever. Mango with a little chili-lime seasoning and popcorn are both a close second.
Bring your own towel and supplies if possible because that’ll help you ensure they’re clean plus safe. If you’re able to rent, the folks on the beach have set up all the umbrellas so they’re farther away from each other.
Tips for a Quick Workout on the Beach: Love a few moves I can do if I’m trying to get my workout in while I’m enjoying my beach moment. Do these by the waterside, 30 seconds each and repeat 3x! Love a quick run on the beach as well. I also love a good mindful moment, just breathing at the waterside.

These are a few of my faves but as the weather changes, perfect time to stock up for seasons to come.
