I’m a lover of the world and far off places who is so excited that you’re here. Looking forward to sharing more of my world with you and all the things I love. I hope this site really does feel like a wellness oasis right here on the internet.
Hey guys! My name is Edeline and I’m from New York City, currently residing in the Bronx. I graduated from Syracuse University in 2017 as a Public Health major and aspire to be Dr. Sanchez one day. Being a Latina in the medical field can be a rough and lonely road, so I love sharing knowledge and inspiring others through my social media platforms. My favorite past time is staying home binge-watching Netflix with my little baby who won’t listen, my Shih-Tzu- Poodle, Jax. Even though I have a long journey ahead of me, I’ve never let that stop me from enjoying my life and doing what makes me happy.
As a pre-med student juggling medical school applications, studying for the MCAT, 12-hour shifts, and long hours in the hospital, traveling does not always seem feasible. Especially in the healthcare world, low pay and the ridiculously high NYC living expenses almost make vacationing impossible for me. Being in this field and seeing patients is physically, mentally, and emotionally draining. You MUST take time off sometimes to escape to an island with bae or your bestie, and relax on the beach with an ice cold daiquiri in your hand. This is therapeutic and NEEDED for your soul and wellbeing. Never feel guilty about requesting that PTO!
Yes, life gets crazy when I am studying for an exam that literally determines my future. There’s a lot to balance. Paying for medical school applications while also paying rent for my little studio in the Bronx, being a dog mom, girlfriend, big sister, and a normal functioning human being who wants to get lit sometimes. Whewww, chile.
With the help of Google flights and saving apps like Qapital, paired with my obsession to organize and plan everything in my life- I have been able to travel to places like Cuba and Thailand with a very small budget. I mean, I made an 11 day trip to Thailand- 4 flights, 3 cities, 3 hotels happen for less than $1500! After countless hours of Instagram stalking and research done months in advance, I have been able to create itineraries filled with daily activities, restaurants, night life, etc. I even plan my outfits (I know, I am wild extra).
Every one of my trips have been unforgettable and I always come back feeling refreshed, relaxed and with a new perspective on life. Spending $1-2k feels like such a burden but with the right planning and budgeting, you can really go wherever your heart desires. I mean, if I can do it… you can too! No matter what industry you work in, you can prioritize travel and make it fit within your budget.
I dive into my joruney on instagram and answer questions all the time. This is your time to #ScrubinwithE! Follow me on my pre-med journey to see how I juggle everything at @_bg0ld. If you need help planning a trip or creating an itinerary, let me know. I received so much great feedback on my Thailand trip, I spent time putting together a dope itinerary for those looking to do all the things we did! If you’re interested in purchasing my Thailand 11-day itinerary OR have any questions about being pre-med feel free to hit your girl up!
