I’m a lover of the world and far off places who is so excited that you’re here. Looking forward to sharing more of my world with you and all the things I love. I hope this site really does feel like a wellness oasis right here on the internet.
I know this past year has been an adjustment for all of us in so many ways, especially when it comes trying to move your body in your home. I was always a lover of workout classes in studio so trust me, I’ve been challenged as well to find creative ways of working out at home.
Although gyms are starting to open up in some areas of the country, there are people who have grown a custom to working from home and honestly, some days I’m one of them. There are also those who are just starting their fitness journey and prefer to start in the comfort of their own homes. I respect it! Whichever category you fall into (perhaps you’re somewhere in the middle) you probably need some equipment for your home workout space. Like most of the world, you’ve probably been on the hunt for the best and most convenient workout accessories. It’s always nice to have some equipment at home, although yes, you can do a lot with bodyweight!
Here are a few free apps I love for working out at home and mixing it up.
Nike Training Club: Great for strength, mobility and yoga. Love that you can easily sort by time, workout type and tons of other helpful details.
Seven- The 7 Min Workout: You can always find 7 mins in the day to move your body.
FitOn: This is such a great way of getting that boutique gym feeling at home. Their roster of trainers is incredible and they’ve got a little something for everyone.
Equipment:
Bala Bangles: These are the most chic yet durable weights you can find. I’m obsessed and have had them for years. I’ve got them in a few different colors and the classic black ones match with any workout fit. The Bala team has recently added even more options for hand weights which are great too.
Crossrope: You’ve all seen me bright and early in the gym with these ropes & they are a MUST! Great for conditioning and getting in a short workout when I’m short on time. I love the 1lb and 2lb options plus their app to get my workouts in efficiently.
Plyometric Boxes: I love these boxes whenever I see them at gyms so I love that I can have them in my house. Great for step ups, jumping and even using for arm exercises. This is definitely better if you’ve got a bit more space, but they make your space feel so much more official.
TRX: I know these aren’t anything new (I remember when my dad first got one) but they really are great! So easy to attach to any door and do numerous exercises for a great full-body workout.
Resistance Bands: Having resistance bands at home is always super helpful and makes simple workouts just a little bit more challenging.
Foam Roller: We all know how important recovery is while on your fitness journey and we all know how bad most of us are at it 🙂 I’ve found that using a foam roller while watching your favorite show is a great way to recover yet not feel like its “work.”
Kettlebell: I LOVE kettlebells– you think they are going to be “easy”, but something about them really elevates your workout. Although I hate it at the time, I always love it after.
Booty Bands: Booty bands are a GAME changer – the smallest movements literally burn more than you would ever expect and again, very love hate!
Stability ball: These are great for ab movements and a great stand-in for a bench if you want to do some presses or other low impact movements.
Mini Stepper & Resistance Bands: I just purchased this and can’t wait for it to get here! I seems like the perfect gadget to up my fitness game on those days I miss gym hours or just cant be motivated to do something else.
These are just a few of things I have found to be the most beneficial during these trying times. I am grateful for my apartment gym, but even with that, sometimes I am limited and love having these on hand.
