I’m a lover of the world and far off places who is so excited that you’re here. Looking forward to sharing more of my world with you and all the things I love. I hope this site really does feel like a wellness oasis right here on the internet.
This week I had the pleasure of connecting with Jamisse to learn more about the Zenith Nadir Collection which is a Black-owned and Woman-owned business.
Please share a few lines about you as a founder and how Zenith Nadir Collection came to be.
I’m Jamisse, and I’m a creator. I really love to do things with my hands, crafting, designing, and making things. I picked up creating the Zenith Nadir Collection by chance. Meaning, I took one. I tried out resin a while back, but the timing was way off. Then Quarantine hit, and I had more time and decided I would pick it up again – only this time, to create home items that could be used. I started by creating ashtrays, they’re the founding product. The first ones I made were so near and dear to me and were the hardest to let go of. I wanted to create them to create unexpected appeal. This sparked more creativity than I thought, and I’ve been very selective about the other types of products I’d want to make. I truly have to be connected to what it is in order for me to want to create it. I’m loving everything about creating my collection and launched Zenith Nadir to share this joy with others.
What makes your products unique and different?
It’s my intention to create things that are one of one. Each product is handcrafted and designed with the most care. I believe “style” is the main unique driving factor behind my products. I’m constantly trying to perfect color combinations, and evaluate different mediums to create a luxe and eclectic feel. My pieces are meant to be accents to your already established home style.
Favorite product(s) or yours.
Omg, I have so many favorite products, and what’s funny is they’re all “small” businesses. You feel it when it comes from shopping small, and it feels like pure love. My favorite candles, hands down, are by Soccora Rose. Each scent makes your eyes roll back and I promise your space will thank you.
I am constantly juggling and being drawn in different directions, so I definitely take time to sip my NoireBud teas. It’s really soothing and is the perfect way to relax. I was recently put on to Jent’l – and it’s heaven. It feels like clouds on your fingertips and smells delightful.
I also love a business with a mission, Empowerment Apparel 531 is another brand I’m loving. The mission behind the brand is to dismantle judgments around people who have been labeled “disabled” by proclaiming that they are actually “able” and should be given fair treatment. It’s awesome and pulls at your heart. Definitely a chance to learn and support a cause much greater than ourselves.
Honestly, I literally just shop on Instagram (that IG algorithm hits!). I’m usually waiting for a “sponsored ad” to catch my attention, or search for something specific, and end up going down a rabbit hole, ending in a cute little shopping splurge. It’s my favorite hobby.
What’s next for you and for Zenith Nadir Collection?
What’s next? Oh boy, I have so many ideas, but ultimately I hope to just continue to create and iterate the collection this year. I just added a new product I named “Dumpling Jars”. They’re cute little trinket jars. I am so in love with making them and will be designing with new colors and creating a seasonal series. I’m just getting started and have a couple of other products I’ll be rolling out. I would love to continue to expand my home good offerings by adding other products by other makers, collaborate with other brands, and continue to love what I do.
One piece of advice for new entrepreneurs or anyone with a great idea?
As a brand new entrepreneur, my one piece of advice for others is to get out of your head and just do it. There are certain things you should really take time to figure out, like the math, for example, but don’t let that halt you. You’ll learn every job in the house – from marketing to accounting to customer service, and if it’s coming from the heart – It’s not as hard as you think. Being an entrepreneur should come from a place of love. You have to love what you’re doing to keep your motivation. This is really an “enjoy the journey not the destination” situation.
