I’m a lover of the world and far off places who is so excited that you’re here. Looking forward to sharing more of my world with you and all the things I love. I hope this site really does feel like a wellness oasis right here on the internet.
Collaboration with CityRow Go
I’ve had my CITYROW GO Rower for a while now and it’s shifted how I workout at home. Working out at home is something we all have learned to do over the past year if we hadn’t done it before because we had no other option. Personally I used to be someone who loved being in studio so the transition was a challenge. Moving to Chicago during the pandemic as well meant that going outside was a challenge for quite a few months because it was simply too cold. I wanted to take a few months to try it out before sharing my experience with you so I could really talk about the machine from my perspective. There are many things I enjoy about the CITYROW Go Max rower but I’ll kick off by saying it’s one of most efficient full body workout pieces of equipment you can get. Low impact but really great for strengthening so many parts of the bod. I’ve learned so much using it!
I have really enjoyed having this at home especially with gyms being open and closed during the pandemic. This is a constant I can rely on. Working out for me is a part of self-care and it’s a huge stress reliever so having 24/7 access to an immersive platform has been a game changer. I love the small imprint in our space which makes it perfect for smaller apartments. This has really been the perfect at home workout piece of equipment because you can flip it up easily. In the upward position it takes up about the amount of space as a chair and while it’s down and in use there still isn’t a big footprint. We don’t have a lot of free space within our guest room / office so it fits perfectly! The machine has a great monitor for rowing classes where you can follow along while an instructor showcases form while taking you through the workout but the machine also offers also so much more.
To take a step back, let’s talk quickly about why I love rowing in the first place. I know it may not be the first at home gym item that comes to mind but there are a lot of reasons why it should be especially for my runners out there. Rowing is incredible cross training.
I love that the CITYROW Go Max and integrated app offers classes to help you get started as a beginner but they also have classes for the really advanced. This machine is great for all levels so if you’ve been rowing for a while or need help getting started there’s a class for you. I honestly fell somewhere in the middle and really loved taking a few foundational classes but then mixing it up with the HIIT classes which included rowing as well as floor work. The team has introduced even more mat-based strength and Pilates style classes to really help you between the rowing focused sessions.
The diversity of instructors is also important to me so that was another thing I looked for when I looked at the different at home rowing options. As a Black woman you all know how much I love seeing folks from all different backgrounds teach class! Each person is really unique and fun to take class with in their own way. I found that every class and every instructor really has something a little bit different to offer so there’s something for everyone. I’ve enjoyed taking classes in the morning since that’s the time I typically work out but you can take class whenever you’d like which is the beauty of having it in your home. There’s a plethora of on demand options ranging from 20 mins to 50 minutes. I’ll take a 30 minute class on mornings where I’m a little more rushed and a 50 minute class on the mornings where I’ve got a little more time.
The team was awesome enough to also give me a discount code to share with you! CODE: KIRA_100 (case sensitive, all caps) gets you $100 off rowers. If you check out the website you can also preview the app with a two week free trial to get a feel for the classes starting today. Look out because CITYROW may also offer longer free trials during certain promotional periods if you’d like to test it out over a longer period of time!
Have you gotten an at home workout machine yet? If you get this one let me know! Let’s row together.
