I’m a lover of the world and far off places who is so excited that you’re here. Looking forward to sharing more of my world with you and all the things I love. I hope this site really does feel like a wellness oasis right here on the internet.
Hey there, fellow globe-trotting runners! Lace up those sneakers and get ready for a jog through the ins and outs of keeping your running game strong while you’re on the road. Running while traveling can be an exhilarating experience, and I’ve got the lowdown on how to make the most of it.
1. Pack Those Running Shoes First:
Whether you’re headed to the beach or the mountains, don’t forget to toss in your trusty running shoes. It’s the golden rule of travel for us pavement pounders – a good run starts with the right footwear. If I’m going to be running a mile or two I’ll pack and wear APL ziplines but if I’m going a longer distance I’ve been loving these new balance shoes.
2. Scout Local Running Routes:
Before you jet off, do a quick Google Maps recon of your destination. Look for parks, trails, or scenic routes nearby. It’s like having your running path all mapped out before you even arrive! I also love Strava for local running routes, used this while I was in Italy to run around our wedding venue. I also love having the pro membership for travel so I can see the most popular local routes.
3. Embrace the Early Bird Vibe:
While the snoozers are catching those extra Zs, why not seize the day with a sunrise run? Early morning jogs offer a serene start to your adventure, and you’ll often have the streets or trails to yourself. I love to run before breakfast as the sun is rising. You can see so much of a place without crowds which is beautiful.
4. Stay Safe, Stay Informed:
Safety first, my friends. I always share my location with friends and family. Familiarize yourself with the local running rules and guidelines. Some places might have specific hours for public spaces, so it’s good to know before you hit the pavement.
5. Weather-Proof Your Run:
Mother Nature can be unpredictable, so check the weather forecast. A light drizzle might add to the adventure, but a surprise downpour? Not so much. Plan accordingly, and maybe throw in a waterproof jacket just in case.
6. Turn Sightseeing into a Run:
Why sightsee from a tour bus when you can explore on foot? Strap on your running shoes and turn your sightseeing into a calorie-burning, heart-pumping adventure. You’ll see the city in a whole new light!
7. Pack Your Running Gear:
Aside from shoes, pack your favorite running gear. A comfortable pair of shorts, moisture-wicking shirts, and don’t forget that all-important playlist to keep your motivation sky-high. I love listening to podcasts during longer runs as well.
8. Hydrate Like It’s Your Job:
Traveling can be dehydrating, and running amplifies that. Carry a reusable water bottle and make staying hydrated a priority. Your body will thank you after those extra miles.
9. Post-Run Fuel:
Treat yourself to some local post-run fuel. Whether it’s a tasty street snack or a hearty breakfast at a nearby cafe, refueling with local eats adds a delicious touch to your running journey.
10. Share Your Running Adventures:
Lastly, don’t forget to share your running adventures on social media. Connect with local runners or inspire fellow travelers to hit the pavement. Who knows, you might just discover a new running buddy in a foreign land!
So, there you have it – your passport to maintaining your running routine while exploring the world. Happy running, and may your travels be filled with scenic routes and runner’s highs! 🏃♂️✈️🌍
