I’m a lover of the world and far off places who is so excited that you’re here. Looking forward to sharing more of my world with you and all the things I love. I hope this site really does feel like a wellness oasis right here on the internet.
The last few weeks have been wild, and to be honest a little overwhelming, but I’m learning to live within my new norm. So many of my friends in fitness and hospitality no longer have jobs and I can’t even begin to process it all. Each day brings a new challenge and we’ve all been impacted in one way or another. I’m a planner, and like so many of my friends, we plan for everything but never in my lifetime did I expect to be home-bound due to COVID-19. While it’s a tough time for many, it’s a great time to adopt an attitude of gratitude to appreciate the little things. It’s a great time to get back to the basics of empathy, community, and compassion.
There are tons of websites where you can stream workouts online and the ladies at Sweats & The City have come through with a huge list, including discount codes. They’ve also got a calendar that’s currently being refreshed daily that summarizes all of the online options. Many options they list have free trials or discount codes and are lower cost vs a traditional boutique studio, however, some people just don’t have anything extra to spend. I get it as I myself have focused hard on budgeting because we never know what tomorrow holds. For those that currently don’t have any additional funds for fitness I wanted to highlight some of the completely free options out there. We’re all supposed to be staying home, so if you want to work on your fitness goals or just keep yourself moving I wanted to make sure that there was a place to highlight some great options that have no added cost. I know my workouts help me maintain my sanity and I’m so thankful for the chance to move my body (these days especially).
While we’re all at home that means that our favorite workout instructors, trainers and athletes are home as well. It’s been heartbreaking for me to have so many of my friends and family just not know what their next step is but I’ve loved to see everyone get creative to make it work. If you’ve still got the budget to allocate toward fitness it’s a great time to support the instructors that have supported you through the years. It’s incredible to see how quickly FitPros have adapted to IG Live and Zoom to offer online versions of their amazing classes. A lot of studios and your favorite activewear brands are streaming free workouts on Instagram live so keep an eye out for those opportunities.
This is not the time to ask your friends to work for free, this is the time to invest in the incredible services they offer or use the free options that are online. Instructors put in so much work behind the scenes, they deserve to be paid for their time, effort and energy. Below I’ll also include a list of Instructors who are offering workouts online in a variety of formats.
FitOn App: I’ve had this app downloaded for a few months and have been really impressed with the content. You can choose the duration of time, type of workout and the trainer (with some fun celebrity features). You can even sign up to do workouts with others. The app is available on the Apple App store as well as google play plus they also offer free workout plans if you want to commit for a longer time frame.
Nike Run Club & Nike Training Apps: Between these apps you’ll have a ton of options for guided runs, stretches, yoga and strength workouts. I use the Nike Run club app to track my miles while I’m running solo and also to opt into challenges that give me a goal to strive for. You can add friends if you’re looking for virtual run club vibes. The Nike Training app did have some premium featured content with a cost associated but it’s been made free for the time being so everyone can access all of the workouts on the platform.
