I’m a lover of the world and far off places who is so excited that you’re here. Looking forward to sharing more of my world with you and all the things I love. I hope this site really does feel like a wellness oasis right here on the internet.
Nutrition is a vital part of your fitness journey. It’s essential to repair and replenish your body, especially when training in the summer. Hot weather makes it even more important to nourish your body with high-protein foods and plenty of hydration. I’ve been training for races during the summer months while maintaining a busy schedule, so finding high-protein snacks is essential.
Chomps beef and turkey sticks have 10 grams of protein each, and they’re sugar-free! Each stick has less than 100 calories, and they are great for all kinds of diet restrictions as they are keto-friendly, Whole 30 approved, paleo, non-GMO, certified gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, and nut-free. They are also low in carbs, fat, and sodium. The ingredients are simple, and the flavor options are great. The variety pack comes with one of each flavor—Original Beef, Jalapeno Beef, Sea Salt Beef, Italian Beef, Habanero Beef, Original Turkey, Jalapeno Turkey, and Venison. These are a great, simple option for a protein-filled snack!
Sometimes you just don’t feel like a protein bar or shake. So when you want something a little different, these protein chips can satisfy your craving! They are baked, gluten-free, and contain 19 grams of protein. They come in a variety of flavors as well, like taco, nacho cheese, chili lime, loaded taco, ranch, and spicy-sweet chili. The sweet chili is honestly my fave but if you’re trying for the first time I recommend grabbing the variety pack to give a few flavors a try! You can also use these chips as a base for a snack like nachos for some extra protein.
PeaTos are like a healthier alternative to Cheetos. These pea protein puffs come in small snack bags, perfect for snacking. Each bag contains 4 grams of protein. PeaTos are vegetarian, gluten-free, non-GMO, and have no artificial flavors, colors, or MSG. They are also low carb and make a great option for a healthier version of crunchy snacks with a bit of protein! My favorite flavor is fiery hot, these are so good!
These vegan and gluten-free snack bars are packed with 12 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber to help your body refuel post-workout and feel full. They are soft and chewy and taste like a cookie but only contain 6 grams of sugar. I also love that these are easy to pack away when I’m traveling or on the go.
GoMacro bars are made with clean, vegan ingredients that deliver protein and vital nutrients. I love that the ingredients are USDA organic, GMO-free, and macrobiotic. These soft and chewy bars are a good option if you are picky about the ingredients in your snacks. Each bar contains 3-13 grams of protein. Some bars have more protein than others. There are also low FODMAP snacks from GoMacro, which are very easy on sensitive stomachs. These are a great option for a hiking or biking trip and an everyday snack if you are looking for a bar with clean ingredients.
If you don’t eat dairy products, you know how hard it can be to find a good protein bar without dairy that tastes good! No Cow protein bars taste like a fudge brownie and are made from plant-based ingredients. Not all flavors are created equal so try a few but these are probably THE cleanest bars on the market. These are egg-free, dairy-free, non-GMO, vegan, gluten-free, keto-friendly, low in sugar and carbs, and not made from whey. No Cow bars are made of a blend of brown rice and pea protein that create a complete amino acid profile, which is important for recovery and easier to digest. Each bar contains 21 grams of protein and just 1 gram of sugar.
OWYN (Only What You Need) plant-based protein shakes are made with vegan protein from organic pumpkin seeds, flax, and peas. These have been a favorite for years, seriously, if you scroll way down my Instagram profile you’ll see old pics of me with OWYN. The shakes are good and there is lots of variety in flavors which I love. They also contain a superfood greens blend that adds fiber and prebiotics for digestive support. I love the dark chocolate flavor and the fact that they have an 18-month shelf life and don’t need to be refrigerated!
Evolve plant-based protein shakes are made from sustainably grown pea protein. They come in vanilla or double chocolate flavors and don’t need to be refrigerated, so they’re great on the go. They have vitamins and zinc that are particularly beneficial for those with vegan diets or who eat less meat, eggs, and dairy products. These shakes can be used as post-workout protein or as a meal replacement. I’ve heard these are also good for people who are more sensitive to typical protein shakes as they are easier to digest. Each protein shake has 20 grams of protein, 10 grams of fiber, and just 140 calories.
I first found these protein shakes at Costco, but they are also available on Amazon! These are organic and vegan and contain 10 grams of plant protein and 4 grams of fiber. I love the chocolate banana flavor and these are a great option to have on hand for high-protein snacks.
As I mentioned, prioritizing hydration is also essential during summer training. Replenishing electrolytes after a workout or run will help keep you hydrated and regulate muscle contractions.
I love these pickles for a post-workout electrolyte boost. Pickles might not come to mind at first but they’re really good post-workout especially post summer run! They are great to have in your gym bag but also travel well as they are individually packed.
Nuun Hydration tablets are another one of my favorites for staying hydrated during the summer. These tablets contain five essential electrolytes to help your body stay hydrated without any sugar. They have many different flavors and there are tablets for daily use, sports, and energy. Use code KIRA25 for 25% off your order!
